Now China is countering with sanctions of its own.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Tensions between China and the West in the dispute over the oppression of the Uyghurs are increasing: Following sanctions against several European politicians and organizations, Beijing on Saturday also imposed punitive measures on representatives of the United States and Canada, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry. China reacted with it to sanctions of the west. The US government rejected the step as \"groundless\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Because of the oppression of the Muslim minority of the Uyghurs in the northwestern province of Xinjiang, Great Britain, the EU, Canada and the USA had imposed sanctions against China at the beginning of the week.
