According to diplomats, the European Union has agreed on sanctions against China for the first time in three decades. These include entry bans and asset freezes, two EU diplomats told Reuters news agency. The AFP news agency also reported. Four Chinese government representatives and one Chinese institution are affected, they said.

The reason is human rights violations against the Muslim minority of the Uyghurs in China.
