China has demanded that a planned UN meeting on the repression of the Uighur Muslim minority in China's Xinjiang province be cancelled.
This event was based on pure lies and political prejudices, Beijing's representation at the United Nations criticized in a statement. China also warned again against interference in the country's internal affairs. The People's Republic demanded that the meeting be canceled. The other UN member states should condemn it. Among others, the ambassadors of the United States, Germany and Great Britain want to speak at tomorrow's conference at the United Nations.
According to human rights organizations, at least one million members of the Uyghur and other Muslim minorities are imprisoned in camps in Xinjiang. There, they are forced to give up their religion, culture and language and are sometimes mistreated, they said.
