On 15–16 May, the World Uyghur Congress and the Uyghur Center for Democracy and Human Rights participated, upon invitation, in the Turkish Food Festival organized by the Turkish Cultural Center in Karlsruhe. During the event, WUC representatives raised awareness about the ongoing Uyghur genocide in East Turkistan, China’s assimilation and persecution policies targeting Uyghurs, transnational repression, as well as the history and culture of the Uyghur people.
The event was attended by WUC President Turgunjan Alawdun, former WUC President and President of the Uyghur Center for Democracy and Human Rights Dolkun Isa, WUC Executive Committee Vice President Anwar Ahmet, WUC Foundation Fundraising Director Abdujelil Emet, and members of the local Uyghur community in Karlsruhe.
Throughout the festival, the WUC distributed books, informational materials, and photographs highlighting the ongoing human rights violations in East Turkistan and the broader situation facing Uyghurs under Chinese occupation.
The Turkish Federation in Karlsruhe has long been among the organizations actively supporting the Uyghur cause. During the festival, several representatives, including Osman Kaya, Cultural Affairs Officer at the Turkish Consulate in Karlsruhe, former regional federation president Nejat Karaca, and Turkish Federation President Çetin Çolak, visited the WUC stand and expressed their solidarity with the Uyghur people and East Turkistan.
As part of the event, Dolkun Isa also held a signing session for the Turkish edition of his book *My Struggles Against China*.
